Beach Volleyball Topped By Boise State, 3-2

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Pacific beach volleyball team was edged by Boise State, 3-2, on Friday at Raney Courts despite wins from Ashlyn Fleming & Skylar Wine, and Katrin Gotterba & Maycie LaBass.

Boise State opened to a 1-0 lead at No. 4, Janie Feldsher & Alex Hot were topped by Jaymee-Lee Bulda & Laney Hayes, 21-17, 21-14.

No. 5 Ashlyn Fleming & Skylar Wine swept Cassie Simon & Jensen Allen, 21-19, 21-16. After taking the first set, the Tigers fell behind 4-0 in set two before a 9-0 run to seize control and tie the match at 1-1.

No. 3 Emily Baptista & Taylor Poncetta were topped by Janell Walley & Emily Sullivan, 21-17, 21-18, as Boise State led 2-1.

Olivia Petnicki & Holt won the extra match in three sets, 23-21, 19-21, 17-15 over Kenna Kenses & Skye Southwick.

Elman & Shelton charged out of the gate opening to a 5-1 lead, but the Broncos answered back, taking a 12-11 lead and rallying to take the set, 21-17. Down in set two, Elman & Shelton rallied from down 19-14 to close within 20-18, but Boise State polished it off to clinch the match.

Katrin Gotterba & Maycie LaBass took set one, 22-20 over Sierra Nobley & Sabryn Roberts, and then cruised in set two, 21-11, for the duo's fourth win this season.

Boise State improves to 1-0 on the season.

The Tigers fall to 1-5 overall and will visit Ocean Beach to face Utah and San Francisco on Sunday. Pacific faces the Utes at 11 a.m., and then host San Francisco at 1 p.m.
