STOCKTON, CALIF. – The Pacific women's beach volleyball team opened its three-match week with a 5-0 victory against Santa Clara at the Raney Sand Volleyball Courts on Tuesday afternoon.
Pacific's No. 1 pair Andie Shelton/Skylar Wine dropped their first set 19-21 before snagging a convincing 21-8 win in the second set, forcing one last final set, which the Pacific duo took with ease by a score of 15-9.
Also going three sets on the afternoon was No. 4 pair Emily Baptista/Hanne De Schrijver. They edged Broncos' Ngozi Nwabuzoh/Tatiana San Juan, 23-21 before falling 18-21 in set two. Then in the deciding set defeated the SCU pair 15-5.
Pacific will return to the courts Saturday when it hosts San Jose State and Sacramento State. Tigers will open the day with a match against the Spartans at 10:00 a.m. and will face the Hornets at 2:00 p.m.
