Irvine, Calif. - Headlining the Tigers' selections on the Big West All-Conference teams, freshman Iveta Masarova took home the top honor for a conference newcomer as the first year player was named the Big West's Freshman of the Year. In addition to the major award, Masarova was named to the all-conference first team while Julia Hansen was named to the second team. The duo also took home honors in doubles action as their team second team honors for the conference.
For Masarova, the honor of freshman of the year marks the first time in Pacific program history a Tiger has taken home such an award. Throughout the year, Masarova compiled a 9-8 dual match record, including a 7-6 mark at No. 1 singles. Masarova also posted a 4-3 record against Big West opponents to claim a spot on the all-conference first team in singles.
One of just two upperclassmen on the Tigers' roster in 2012, Hansen earned her first all-conference award in singles in her third season of action. Hansen competed primarily at No. 2 singles for the Tigers throughout the season, compiling a 10-4 record to lead the way for Pacific.
In doubles action, the duo of Masarova and Hansen played at the No. 1 spot for the Tigers in 11 matches. In Big West matches, the dup posted a 4-3 record to pace the Tigers' in doubles action.
