Portland Pushes Past Pacific

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Pacific women's tennis team fell to Portland Friday afternoon 4-1, bringing the Tigers to 5-12 overall and 0-7 in West Coast Conference play. The victory brings the Pilots to 7-9 on the year and 3-3 in WCC action  

In doubles, the Pilots overmatched the Tigers with No. 3 Emily Soares and Anna Oberg defeating Christiana Ferrari/Anneroos Nederstigt, 6-2, while Jelena Lukic and Jelena Lazarevic topped Maayan Sela/Cristina Saenz de Buruaga Ruiz at the one spot 6-3 to secure the doubles point and take the lead 1-0. 

In singles action, Portland added another two points as Lukic rolled past Sela, 6-4, 6-1 at court one, while Lazarevic took down Nederstigt in straight sets, 7-6(5), 7-5 at the three spot.  The Tigers got on the board with a win from Anna Ramos Vinolas over Radina Dimitrova at No. two in three sets, 7-6(6), 3-6, 6-1 to make it 3-1 in favor of the Pilots. The hosts clinched the match at the four spot as Tatiana Grigoryan edged out Saenz de Buruaga Ruiz 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. Sabrina Rodriguez and Ferrari's matches went unfinished.

The Orange and Black continue WCC play tomorrow at Gonzaga.  First serve is slated for 10 a.m.
