Tigers Return to Action in Hawaii

STOCKTON, Calif. – After a couple weeks off, the University of the Pacific women's tennis team returns to action against the University of Hawaii on Tuesday, March 13. First serve is set for 4:00 p.m.

The last time out, the Tigers fell 4-3 to Cal Poly on February 24. All three points for Pacific came in the singles competition.

Maayan Sela defeated MacKenzie Worsnop in her singles match by scores of 6-4 and 6-0 to pick up the first win of the day for the Tigers.

Anna Ramos Vinolas defeated her opponent, Caroline Williams, in a tie breaker. Vinolas took set one while Williams took set two forcing a 10-point tie breaker. Vinolas won in a win by two situation, 13-11, to claim the second victory. The third point was earned by Yuki Asami defeating Celine Gruaz by scores of 6-0 and 6-1.

Sela and Dohee Lee won the doubles' competition for Pacific defeating Abigail Bacharach and Worsnop by a 6-1 decision.

The Tigers head to Hawai'i 2-4 on the season.

Maayan Sela leads the singles competition for the Tigers, owning a 5-0 record.

In doubles, Sela and partner Dohee Lee hold a 2-1 record through six matches, while teammates Yuki Asami and Anna Ramos Vinolas own a 2-2 record.

Hawaii holds a 5-3 record overall heading into the competition.

Petra Melounova is the leading singles' player for the Rainbow Wahine. She owns a 7-2 record and is 5-2 in a dual competition.

In doubles', Melounova and partner Roxanne Resma hold an 8-3 overall record and are undefeated (6-0) in dual action. Resma possesses an 11-4 record overall in doubles matches.

Following the match on Tuesday, Pacific will take on Cal State Fullerton on Thursday, March 15. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m.
