Splitting time on the right-side in her first year of collegiate action, Siga played in 22 matches while picking up four starts. At the net, Appelgate picked up 50 kills in 187 attempts while adding 14 blocks. She finished her first year with 62 total points after tallying five service aces to add to her kills and blocks. Siga picked up one double-digit kill effort on the year as she tallied a season-high 13 kills on 28 swings at Cal Poly on Nov. 12. In the match, Appelgate added two digs and one block.
A 2010 graduate of Green Valley High School in Las Vegas, Nev., Appelgate joins the Tigers after four prolific seasons with the Gators. One of the top women's volleyball player in the state as a senior in 2009, Appelgate was named the Nevada Gatorade Player of the Year in her final season of action for the Gators. The lone senior on her high school squad, Appelgate led the Gators to the championship match of the 4A State finals. For the year, Appelgate led the way offensively as she put down a team-best 488 kills and 51 aces. Her 488 kills ranked No. 1 in the state while earning her all-state and All-Sunrise-Southeast League honors.
Born in Henderson, Nev., Siga Appelgate is the daughter of Teresa and Deke Appelgate. She has one sister, Catlyn. In her second year at Pacific, Siga is a psychology major.
