GAME NOTES - NO. 18 DUKE - SEPT. 1

With the 2011 season underway the Pacific women's volleyball team comes home for the first time to the Alex G. Spanos Center as they welcome in the No. 18 ranked Blue Devils of Duke.  The Tigers will be facing Duke for the first time in their storied history while looking to continue their stellar start to the new campaign.  The two teams will face off at 5:00 pm at the Spanos Center with Pacific hosting Fan Frenzy Night to kick off the Tigers' home stand.

The Tigers enter the match at 3-0 on the year after sweeping the weekend and with it the tournament title at the Crystal Inn Thunderbird Invitational last week in Cedar City, Utah.  The Tigers defeated Boise State in five before sweeping both Utah State and Southern Utah to claim the tournament crown.  After the tournament, senior Samantha Misa was named the invitational's MVP while junior Hannah Clancy and freshman Hanna Levanen each took home all-tournament honors.

After the home opener on Thursday, the Tigers will head right back into tournament action as they host the 33rd Annual Community Bankers Classic.  The longest running tournament in the country, the Tigers will look to defend their 2010 title against the likes of Army, Duquesne and Mississippi State.  Tournament play begins on Friday, Sept. 2 at 5:00 pm when Army takes on Duquesne.  The Tigers will begin their tournament play at 7:00 pm when they face the Bulldogs of Mississippi State.  Tournament play continues on Saturday, Sept. 3 with four matches at 10:00 am, 12:00 pm, 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm.
