Engelhardt Earns AVCA All-Region Honor

Lexington, Ken. - Pacific senior Svenja Engelhardt today received American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region recognition for her play during the 2010 women's volleyball season. One of the region's and nation's top hitters throughout the season, Engelhardt earned honorable mention honors as she was named to the all-region team for the first time in her career.

Putting Pacific's offense on her back for much of the season as the Tigers' lone senior, Engelhardt put together one of the finest single-season campaign's in Pacific program history to lead a young Tiger team to a 19-11 overall finish. At the pins, Engelhardt posted an impressive 508 kills in 116 games to finish the year with a 4.38 kills per game average. The seniors per game average ranked No. 16 in the country and third in the region while ranking No. 1 among Big West attackers. Additionally, Engelhardt's 508 kills marked just the ninth time in program history a Tiger attack has hit the 500 kill plateau in a single campaign.

In addition to her dominance at the net offensively, Engelhardt put together her finest defensive season of her career as she tallied 297 digs (2.56 per game). With her efforts on both sides of the ball, Engelhardt put together 14 double-doubles throughout Pacific's 30 matches. She also added a team-best 30 aces while tallying a career-best 61 blocks. For the year, Engelhardt posted a career-high 573 points for an average of 4.4 points per game, tying for the 16th best total in all of Division I volleyball.

Alongside all-region honors, Engelhardt was named to the All-Big West First Team, her second straight first team honor and her fourth all-conference award of her career. She also earned her first-ever Big West Player of the Week award on October 25 and earned all-tournament honors at all four of Pacific's early season tournaments. She finished her career among Pacific's all-time greatest players as she posted 1,386 career kills, No. 9 in Pacific's record books. Her 175 career aces ranks No. 2 on Pacific's all-time aces list while her 0.45 ace per game total tied for the all-time best per game average among Pacific servers.
