Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific women's water polo team saw 10 of its student-athletes awarded spots on the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches 2011 Women's All-Academic Team as announced Monday, August 22.
"I am extremely proud of the team's academic efforts this past season," head coach Megan Thomson said. "I want to congratulate them for this accomplishment as I know how hard they worked to achieve this honor."
Junior Kim Kay and senior Allison King were given "Outstanding" recognition, given to those student-athletes with a GPA of 4.00 to 3.71.
Freshmen Michele Relton and Elise Martin and senior Bethany Quertermous were given "Superior" recognition for a GPA between 3.70 and 3.41.
Seniors Siobhan Larsen, Melissa Loper, Dara Tawarahara, and Meara McCarthy, along with redshirt junior Jessica Loper received "Excellent" recognition for a GPA between 3.40 and 3.20.
The Orange and Black's team GPA of 3.260 was tied for the ninth best team GPA in the nation.
"The spring semester saw us with an overall team GPA of 3.48 while we were competing in season," Thomson continued. "I think this shows the opportunity at Pacific to not only excel in the pool but also in the classroom."
