#11 Women's Water Polo Gears Up For Aggie Shootout

STOCKTON, Calif. - The No. 11 Pacific women's water polo team returns to the pool this weekend at the Aggie Shootout at UC Davis. The Tigers will face No. 12 UC Davis on Saturday at 11 a.m., before taking on No. 24 CSU Bakersfield at 5:15 p.m. On Sunday, the Tigers meet No. 16 San Jose State at 11 a.m.

The Tigers sit at No. 11 this week in the polls, sliding up from No. 13 in last week's edition. Pacific has not played since the UCSB Winter Invite January 20-22. The Tigers are 2-4 on the young season, with wins over then No. 17 UC Davis and Pomona-Pitzer. The Tigers four losses have come to teams that were all ranked in the top 11 at the time of competition, including three top five teams.

Karolina Hlavata and Kyra Christmas lead the Tigers in scoring with 12 goals and six assists each for 18 points, while Rachel Krieger is the top goal scorer on Pacific with 13 goals and 14 points. Freshman Viktoria Tamas has chipped in eight goals in six games, while Ellen Tiedemann has added seven.

In the first meeting with UC Davis, the Tigers rolled to a 15-6 win at the LouStrong Invitational on January 14. Tamas scored four times in her Pacific debut, while junior Kennedy Watson added three goals in her first game as a Tiger after joining the program from Mercyhurst.

Hlavata, Krieger and Tiedemann each scored twice, while Christmas and Viktoria Szmodics also tallied goals. Goalkeeper Alexis Hollinrake made 11 saves in goal for Pacific.

Hollinrake is averaging 6.5 saves per game on the season.
