Pacific Cross Country Runs Strong At Stanford Invitational

Stanford, Calif. – Pacific cross country sent Katie Castro and Melissa Hopper to Stanford, Calif. for the Stanford Invitational Saturday, Sept. 24. With a limited squad the Tigers could not place as a team, but individually ran well.

Freshman Katie Castro was the first to cross the finish line for the Tigers posting a time of 24:17. Sophomore Melissa Hopper was not far behind with a time of 24:33. Hopper was just 11 seconds off her time last year at the Stanford Invitational.

Head Coach Josh Jones was happy with his young runners' performance at the stacked race saying, "it was a difficult start with 270 runners packed together in the first mile, but we finished strong and I am looking forward to a strong second half of the season."

The Pacific Cross Country team takes a week off before returning to action at the Triton Classic in San Diego, Calif. on October 8.
