Stockton, Calif. – Pacific Cross Country will hit its mid-season mark on Saturday, March 24 at the Johnny Mathis Invite hosted by San Francisco State. The meet will be the Tigers third of the track season with two left to go.
Running the 5000m run this weekend will be the combination of freshman Katie Castro and Rebecca Tuttle. Head coach Josh Jones is expecting a good race out of both his student-athletes saying, "[Castro] will have someone pushing her, and we will have her run the same type of race as she did in Turlock two weeks ago." Castro led the entire field in Turlock with a time of 17:40.62 to take first in the 5K. Jones added about his freshman, "I truly think she is ready to run the same time or faster and that is the goal." Jones continued to talk about Tuttle's 5000m saying, "Rebecca can break 19 minutes this weekend and that is where we would like her to clock-in."
The the Tigers will take a week off before competing locally on April 6 at the Delta Invite in Stockton, Calif.
