Capital Cross Challenge on Tap for Tigers

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Pacific cross country team returns to competition this week as they travel to Sacramento for the Capital Cross Challenge. The 6K race begins at 10:30 AM and will take place at the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex. 

Saturday's challenge will be the first meet for Pacific since the UC Riverside Invitational on Sept. 16th. At that invite, Jasmine Gonzales paced Tigers across the finish line for the second time this season; traversing the 6K course in a time of 21:49.4, which was a hair off her personal best of 21:49.2. Freshman Saira Purhar followed with a time of 22:26.4, and next came Emma Winkler with a mark of 22:34.7. Emily Wylie ran an even 23:00.0, and Katelyn Breitschwerdt (23:45.8) and Haley Silva (24:20.7) rounded out the Tiger squad.

Last season at the Capital Cross Challenge, the Orange and Black finished 17th and were led by Wylie who posted a career-best time of 21:55.9 at the Haggin Oaks Golf Course. 

Next up for the Tigers will be the Bronco Invitational as hosted by Santa Clara, which will take place Oct. 14th at the Baylands Regional Park in Sunnyvale, Calif.. The 6K event will begin at 9:45 AM.
