San Diego, Calif. - The Pacific women's cross country team finished 10th at the Triton Classic held hosted by UC San Diego on Saturday, Oct. 9.
The Tigers were paced by freshman Melisa Hopper (San Jose, Calif.), who placed 50th with a time of 25:09.2. Sophomore Jazmin Quiroz (San Jose, Calif.) was the next finisher for Pacific, ending up at 25:48.1 and in 65th place. Senior Katie Bella (Beavercreek, Ore.) and freshman Marina Ota (Pleasant Hill, Calif.) finished within a second of each other, with Bella finishing in 83rd (27:00.3) and Ota placing 84th (27:01.6).
Cassi Rush (Gilbert, Ariz.) and Monica Torres (Banning, Calif.) both recorded personal records, with Rush besting her time by an astounding 1:25. "We are a young team and we are going through a big learning curve," said head coach Josh Jones "most of ladies are used to a 3mile race from high school and a 6k jump is a new experience. I have confidence in the ladies that they will work hard and accomplish their goals at conference."
The Tigers are next in action at the Bronco Invite on Oct. 16, hosted by Santa Clara.
