PAF Reaches Fund Drive Goal for 8th-Straight Year

The Pacific Athletic Foundation (PAF) continues to make its impact on the athletic programs and student-athletes at the University of the Pacific as it recently reached its goal of raising $50,000 in new cash for the 8th straight year during its annual Fund Drive. The seven-week campaign raised a total of $56,658 in new cash through the contribution of 108 new gifts for the PAF Impact Fund.

“To exceed our goal this year is an amazing example of teamwork and what our Tiger family can achieve when we come together as a community,” said Director of Athletics, Janet Lucas. We have an amazing group of supporters who believe in our mission to impact the lives of our student-athletes and we are fortunate to have the community rally around us during this campaign. We are truly appreciative of the generosity of our donors who provide us the opportunity to perform at a championship level and make this a special experience for our student-athletes.”

Through the efforts of the volunteers and the support of the community, the PAF was able to raise $181,461 overall during the campaign which is the combined total of new cash donations and renewals of past donors providing the foundation with a head start towards their overall goal of $425,000 to be raised for the 2019-20 academic year. Donors were able to designate their support to three different areas, including donations directly to the PAF, sport-specific designations, and towards the 20th Annual PAF Orange & Black Ball, each with their own unique benefits.

“The annual PAF Fund Drive is all about what we can do as a community to support our athletics department and create a lasting experience for all of our student-athletes,” said Aaron Morales, Director of Athletics Annual Giving. Not only were we able to reach our new cash goal for the 8th consecutive year, but we were able to surpass our goal and that could not be done without the amazing support from our volunteers, staff, and community of supporters who believe in Pacific Athletics. It is a great time of showing what a community can accomplish when it comes together and thank you to everyone who contributed their time, efforts, generosity, and gifts in order to make it all possible.”

A few highlights from this year’s Fund Drive campaign included Team Eye of the Tiger winning the Top Fund Drive Team Award and raising $14,135 collectively in new cash. The team was led by PAF Board President, Leland Noma (Noma Vineyards) and team captain Jon Loo, (Brookside Optometric Group) along with team members Steve Fujinaka, Julius Hastings, Christine Hankins, Nathan Haberkern, Amber Darby, and Lupe and Kate Vargas. Leland Noma also led the individual awards categories and was recognized as the overall Individual Top Fund Drive Winner while also receiving the Most New Cash Award and the Most New PAF Members Award raising $6,785 during the course of the drive.

During the Fund Drive, the PAF received support from 50 volunteers who were tasked with targeting new PAF members to secure new cash donations and assist the PAF in growing its support of Pacific Athletics. The volunteers are separated into separate teams and earn points through a variety of categories determined by the PAF in order to earn prizes at the conclusion of the drive, including an all-expense paid grand prize to the WCC Championships in Las Vegas with the PAF.

The PAF is the fundraising arm of Pacific Athletics and established the Impact Fund in support of Pacific Athletics Department in 2013. The Impact Fund is a reinvestment fund used to support all 17 athletic programs and over 300 student-athletes annually at Pacific. For more information regarding the PAF and how you can support Pacific Athletics this year, please visit or contact the PAF at (209) 946-2591.
