Stockton, Calif. - With the early signing period open around the NCAA, the Pacific basketball team and head coach Ron Verlin announced the signing of Malachi Flynn (Tacoma, Wash.) on Thursday, Nov. 12. Flynn becomes the Tigers' first signee of the 2016-17 class.
"Malachi is an excellent playmaking guard that can really shoot the ball," said Verlin. "He will be able to play both guards position for the Tigers next season"
A 6-1 guard out of Bellarmine Prep, Flynn was a 4A All-State Honorable Mention in 2014-15 as a junior as one of the area's most dynamic scorers, averaging a little more than 24 points per game. He led the Lions to within a game of the regional round of the 4A state basketball tournament last season before bowing out of the tournament. He had a span of three consecutive games in which he scored at least 30 pionts while exploding for 41 on Dec. 27 in the Leo LaRocca Sand Dune Classic in San Francisco. In addition to all-state honors, Flynn earned first-team All-4A Narrows League honors and The Tacoma News Tribune's second-team All-Area.
