FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Freshman diver Mackaby Pennington placed 18th overall in the NCAA Zone E Meets at the Douglas J. Wall Aquatic Center on Wednesday.
In his first ever apperance at an NCAA Championship qualifier, the first-year diver would put up consisent numbers during the three-day event but break free and post a career-high on the third and final day of competition. Pennington finishing with a score of 446.80 in the men's platform event.
"I think [Mackaby] did a great job this week," Diving Coach Hannah Prigge stated. "It's a really tough meet with top divers in the country and it was great for him to get thte experience competing at this level. Overall, I'm really proud of his performance at his first zone meet," said Prigge.
Pennington started off by competing in the Men's 1m Championship preliminary quarterfinal posting a score of 235.00. He would then go on to improve on his season mark in the Men's 3m Championship preliminary quarterfinal with a score of 246.55.
