Pacific heads to Indiana for Three-Game Series

STOCKTON, Calif. – The University of the Pacific baseball team heads to No. 12 Indiana University for a three-game series starting on Friday, March 9 with first pitch set for 3 p.m.

The Hoosiers are 9-2 to start the season. They are a member of the Big Ten Conference.

Elijah Dunham leads the offense with a .400 batting average with 10 hits in 25 at-bats. Logan Kaletha holds a .325 batting average but has scored 12 runs for the Indiana offense. He has notched 12 RBI, two home runs, two triples, and two doubles in 13 hits in 40 at-bats. Luke Miller leads the team in home runs with five.

On defense, Ryan Fineman has 70 putouts with eight assists against just one error. He has contributed to the offense with 14 hits in 36 at-bats and has scored seven runs.

Pauly Milto (2-1) owns a 2.75 ERA in three appearances and three games started. He has pitched one complete game with one shutout. In 19.2 innings, he has struck out 16 batters giving up just six runs.

The Tigers enter the series 6-8 on the season after defeating the University of Nevada in extra innings, 10-9, on Tuesday night.

Kevin Sandri leads the Pacific offense with a .304 hitting percentage with 17 hits in 56 at-bats. He has tallied six runs and two RBI. Matthew Tarantino has scored 10 runs and has registered seven RBI. He has connected for 11 hits in 51 at-bats.

On the defensive side, Nate Verlin has 84 putouts with seven assists against just two errors. He ties for second on the team with a .283 batting average with four doubles and seven RBI. He has 13 hits in 46 at-bats.

On the mound, Cooper Casad (0-0) holds a 1.26 ERA with two saves. In 14.1 innings pitched, he has 14 strikeouts. Shelby Lackey is right behind with a 2.40 ERA. In 15 innings pitched, he has struck out 18 batters.

Following the weekend, the Tigers head to San Jose State on Tuesday, March 13 for one game before opening conference play at the University of San Francisco on Friday, March 16. First pitch on Tuesday is slated for 5 p.m.
