Last time out...

Pacific went to Cal Baptist for a four-game series last weekend and picked up just one win. Pacific ran into a hot starting pitcher on Thursday and lost in a 15-inning game on Friday. On Sunday in the series finale, the offense erupted in an 11-5 win.

Rolling into WCC Play...

The 10-5 Tigers are off to their best start since 2006 and can go into the first weekend of Conference play with 11 wins for the first time since 2003 with a win against UC Davis.

On a tear...

Junior catcher James Free is riding an eight-game hitting streak; the second-longest of his career. He hit safely in 19-straight as a sophomore. Since starting the streak on Feb. 24 at Sacramento State, he's hitting .441 with seven-RBI's two doubles and two home runs.

Sophomore infielder Alex LeForestier gave his season a jolt with a big performance at the plate in the weekend's four games. He went 7-16 for an average of .438 with five RBIs and two doubles. He also walked three times to get his on-base percentage to .526 for the week. His game on Sunday was the best of his career. He set single-game highs in RBIs and runs scored with 3 and tied career-highs in hits (4), walks (2) and extra-base hits (2).

Pitching prowess...

Pacific's pitchers have been hard to hit and hold a combined 3.53 ERA and boast a strikeout to walk ratio of 2.90 : 1. Junior Ryan Shreve leads the team in innings pitched (25.0) and Senior Ricky Reynoso's 32 strikeouts leads the staff. Junior Nick Swanson has been stellar out of the bullpen with two saves and a 0.00 ERA in 8.2 innings of work. Henrik Reinertsen has struck out 13 batters in 8.2 innings of work from the pen. He has a 0.96 ERA.

New Dawn...

While the team's start is outstanding, its even more special when you look at where the team stood this time last year. Through 15 games in 2018 Pacific was 7-8 and didn't pick up their 10th win until March 31, 26 games into the season.

Garko Era: Year Two...

Pacific head coach and former major-leaguer, Ryan Garko, enters his second season at the helm of the program this year. He and his staff helped guide the Tigers to a four-win improvement overall and a five-win improvement in West Coast Conference play. 2019 ushers in a new season as well as Garko's first recruiting class, which looks to make a mark this season.

Scouting the Aggies...

Davis has played a solid schedule to start the season which includes three games at Arizona State in which the Aggies dropped all three games. Davis got rolling two weekends ago when it won three out of four games against Utah Valley. They were swept by WCC team Pepperdine earlier last week. They'll take on Sacramento State on Tuesday, a day before they play the Tigers.
