GAME NOTES

Last time out...

The Tigers erased a seven-run deficit on Wednesday in their mid-week at UC Davis. A six-run fourth inning made it a 9-2 lead for the Aggies, However, the Tigers scored seven-unanswered runs in the final five innings and a three-run homerun in the top of the ninth from senior Tyler Ryan completed the comeback. Junior Nick Swanson got the save, his third of the year and sophomore Henrik Reinertsen earned the win.

Rolling into WCC Play...

The 11-5 Tigers are off to their best start since 2006 and can go into the first weekend of Conference play with 11 wins for the first time since  2003.

On a tear...

Junior catcher James Free is riding a nine-game hitting streak; the second-longest of his career. He hit safely in 19-straight as a sophomore. Since starting the streak on Feb. 24 at Sacramento State, he's hitting .459 with nine RBI's two doubles and two home runs.

LeFORCEtier

Sophomore infielder Alex LeForestier gave his season a jolt with a big performance at the plate in the weekend's four games. He went 7-16 for an average of .438 with five RBIs and two doubles. He also walked three times to get his on-base percentage to .526 for the week. His game on Sunday was the best of his career. He set single-game highs in RBIs and runs scored with 3 and tied career-highs in hits (4), walks (2) and extra-base hits (2). He continued the streak on Wednesday with a 2-5 day with a run scored and an RBI.

Pitching prowess...

Pacific's pitchers have been hard to hit and hold a combined 3.62 ERA and boast a strikeout to walk ratio of 2.78 : 1. Junior Ryan Shreve leads the team in innings pitched (25.0) and Senior Ricky Reynoso's 32 strikeouts leads the staff. Junior Nick Swanson has been stellar out of the bullpen with three saves and a 0.00 ERA in 9.2 innings of work. Henrik Reinertsen has struck out 13 batters in 10.1 innings of work from the pen. He has a 0.87 ERA and two wins.

New Dawn...

While the team's start is outstanding, its even more special when you look at where the team stood this time last year. Through 15 games in 2018 Pacific was 7-9 and didn't pick up their 11th win until April 2, 27 games into the season.

Garko Era: Year Two...

Pacific head coach and former major-leaguer, Ryan Garko, enters his second season at the helm of the program this year. He and his staff helped guide the Tigers to a four-win improvement overall and a five-win improvement in West Coast Conference play. 2019 ushers in a new season as well as Garko's first recruiting class, which looks to make a mark this season.

Scouting the Gaels...

Saint Mary's has played a difficult schedule and despite that boast a 10-6 record and have scored 108 runs. The Gaels opened the season with a four-game sweep over Washington State and also picked up a win over California. Currently, the Gaels are riding a five-game win streak dating back to March 5. Preseason All-American pitcher Ken Waldichuk is slated to start on Saturday.
