Last time out...

Pacific had a rocky start to the West Coast Conference season this weekend when it was swept at Saint Mary's in a three-game series. The Tigers lost 5-3 on Friday, 1-0 in 10 innings on Saturday and 12-7 on Sunday.

On a tear...

Junior catcher James Free has hit safely in 10 of the last 11 games for Pacific. In that stretch, Free is hitting .432 with seven RBIs, a double and a homerun. He's also drawn four walks. Free leads the team in batting average at .387 and is second in RBIs with 14. His five doubles tops the team.

Sophomores step up...

In Pacific's last eight games sophomores Alex LeForestier and Bryce Kirk and stepped into roles to lead the Tiger offense. Both are hitting in the middle of the order and both are hitting better than .340 in the last eight games. LeForestier leads the team with 9 RBIs in the last eight games and Bryce Kirk is hitting .350 with three RBIs.

Pacific Pitching...

Five Tigers that have pitched in at least 5.0 innings this year boast an ERA under 3.00. Junior Nick Swanson hasn't allowed a run in 11.2 innings of work from the pen. He's got three saves. Henrik Reinertsen's 0.79 ERA through 11.1 innings of work also comes from the bullpen. Hayden Pearce has started three games and has a 1.42 ERA. Junior Daniel Vitoria has a 1.59 ERA in 5.2 innings of work. Ryan Shreve's dominance out the mound has led to a 2.53 ERA in a team-leading 32.0 innings of work.

A tale of two outs...

Two out situations have both hurt and helped the Tigers so far this year. On the offensive side, Pacific has scored a combined total of 24 runs on 19 separate two-out occasions.

Defensively, the Tigers have allowed 35 runs in 14 separate two-out occasions.

Happy to be home...

Pacific is 7-1 this year at Klein Family Field and just 4-7 on the road. A win on Tuesday over Fresno State will be Pacific's first win in a mid-week game at home.

Garko Era: Year Two...

Pacific head coach and former major-leaguer, Ryan Garko, enters his second season at the helm of the program this year. He and his staff helped guide the Tigers to a four-win improvement overall and a five-win improvement in West Coast Conference play. 2019 ushers in a new season as well as Garko's first recruiting class, which looks to make a mark this season.

Scouting the Bulldogs...

Fresno State hasn't played since defeating San Francisco last Tuesday at home 8-6. Their weekend series at Air Force was canceled due to snow. The Bulldogs have won three of their last five games. Both losses came at No. 25 Tennessee. FSU did take the series finale 10-7. They also beat No. 25 Cal State Fullerton on Feb. 23 and defeated Missouri State, 3-2, a team that was a participant in last year's NCAA Tournament. Pacific will face Mitchell Nikoh, a lefty that carries a 9.35 ERA in four starts. Offensively, five players are hitting at least .300 including Tatum McCarthy who leads the team in average (.396), RBIs (15), and doubles (5).
