Pacific baseball fell to Fresno State 17-2 on Tuesday night at Klein Family Field.
Fresno State scored seven in the first inning and never looked back. Pacific used 15 position players and seven pitchers in the loss. Senior Tyler Ryan and junior James Free both had two hits; Free had a run scored. Ryan had an RBI as well as junior infielder Carter Hayes who returned to the lineup in the game. Sophomore infield Hunter Konecny-Pena recorded his first career hit in the game. Pacific had 10 hits in the game
The Bulldogs opened the game with seven runs off of five hits and an error in the top of first. The Tigers got one back when Hayes singled to score Free with two out in the bottom of the first to make it 7-1. In the next at-bat a double from Tyler Ryan scored senior Nate Verlin to make it 7-2.
Fresno tacked another run in the top of the fourth inning and two more in the sixth inning to make it 9-2. In the top of the eighth inning, a seven-run inning off of six hits put the game well out of reach and made the final score 17-2.
Pacific continues the 2019 season this weekend when the Tigers hit the road again to take on Loyola Marymount on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
