GAME NOTES

Last time out...

Pacific took on the defending WCC Champions, Gonzaga, this past weekend in Spokane and took one game of the three-game set. Pacific's win came on the back of pitchers Hayden Pearce and Lucas Sweany. The two combined to shutout Gonzaga and allowed only four hits. Pearce's six shutout innings pulled his career ERA under 4.00 and was the first quality start of the season for him. Sweany notched a three-inning save.

Video Game Numbers...

Junior catcher James Free quietly led the Tiger offense last week. He only plated two RBIs, both of which were solo-home runs, but it was the rest of his numbers that were outstanding. For the week, he hit .462, reached base at a .611 clip, slugged .923 and had an OPS of 1.534.

Pacific Pitching...

The Tiger hurlers have been a bright spot this year. Six Tigers that have thrown at least seven innings boast sub-3.00 ERA's. Pacific's pitchers are 45th in the nation in walks per nine innings. The staff's strikeout-to-walk ratio of 2.25 is the 71st best in the nation. The staff WHIP of 1.34 is 62nd in the nation.

Individually, Ryan Shreve is 7th in the nation in complete games with three. Shreve is top-50 in WHIP and walks per nine innings. He and Ricky Reynoso are tied for 19th in the nation with 7 starts.

Reynoso is 93rd in the nation in strikeouts and 88th in strikeouts per nine innings.

Shutout the lights...

Nick Swanson has embraced the role of closer. He notched his fifth save on Saturday against Pepperdine, good for 8th in a single-season. Eight will move him into second in single-season history. If he gets to 12, he'll hold the record. His 5 saves are 50th best in the nation

The Tiger Way...

Pacific has found ways to generate offense this year and its been done by playing small ball. The Tigers lead the nation in sac bunts with 23. 46 times the Tigers have gotten on base by getting hit by a pitch, good for 26th in the nation. Keaton Glover, Kevin Sandri and Carter Hayes all rank inside the top-100 in the nation in sac bunts laid down.

Twin-Killings...

The Tigers have turned into a prominent double play threat up the middle. Pacific has turned 29 this year, good for the 17th most in the nation. In double plays per game, the Tigers are 27th in the nation, averaging just under one a contest.

Garko Era: Year Two...

Pacific head coach and former major-leaguer, Ryan Garko, enters his second season at the helm of the program this year. He and his staff helped guide the Tigers to a four-win improvement overall and a five-win improvement in West Coast Conference play. 2019 ushers in a new season as well as Garko's first recruiting class, which looks to make a mark this season.

Scouting the Aggies...

After two midweek game against UC Davis this year, the Tigers can take the series from the Aggies on Tuesday with a win. Pacific won the first game in Davis, 11-9 after trailing 9-2 earlier in the game. Last week, the Aggies defeated the Tigers, 7-0. Tuesday's game is the first between the two teams at Klein Family Field this year.

Tanner Murray leads the Aggies on offense. The sophomore infielder is hitting .393 with 12 RBIs. He's swiped six bags. Logan Denholm and Alejandro Lara both are hitting better than .300.
