Last time out...

Pacific won the season series over UC Davis following a 13-8 victory on Tuesday night. The Tigers scored 11 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning after giving up six-unanswered runs to start the game. It was Pacific's second comeback win over UC Davis this year.

In the 11-run inning:

  • Pacific sent 16 batters to the plate.
  • There were eight hits, two balks, two hit-by-pitches and two walks.
  • The Tigers scored more runs than they have in 27 of their 32 games this year.

Video Game Numbers...

Junior catcher James Free quietly led the Tiger offense last weekend at Gonzaga. He only plated two RBIs, both of which were solo-homeruns, but it was the rest of his numbers that were outstanding. For the week, he hit .462, reached base at a .611 clip, slugged .923 and had an OPS of 1.534.

Potent Pitching...

Tiger pitching has been outstanding this year. The staff ranks in the top-100 in:

  • Walks per nine innings - 46th (3.47)
  • WHIP - 67th (1.36)
  • Strikeout-to-walk ratio - 70th (2.25)
  • ERA - 88th (4.17)

Individually Tigers are ranked:

Shutout the lights...

Nick Swanson has embraced the role of closer. He notched his fifth save on Saturday against Pepperdine, good for 8th in a single-season. Eight will move him into second in single-season history. If he gets to 12, he'll hold the record. His 5 saves are 50th best in the nation. He has still not allowed an earned run through 18.1 innings and has struck out 18 batters.

The Tiger Way...

Pacific has found ways to generate offense this year and its been done by playing small ball. The Tigers are third in the nation in sac bunts with 34. 56 times the Tigers have gotten on base by getting hit by a pitch, good for 12th in the nation. Keaton Glover and Kevin Sandri rank inside the top-100 in the nation in sac bunts laid down.

The Tigers have turned into a prominent double play threat up the middle. Pacific has turned 29 this year, good for the 26th most in the nation. In double plays per game, the Tigers are 38th in the nation, averaging 0.88 a contest.

Garko Era: Year Two...

Pacific head coach and former major-leaguer, Ryan Garko, enters his second season at the helm of the program this year. He and his staff helped guide the Tigers to a four-win improvement overall and a five-win improvement in West Coast Conference play. 2019 ushers in a new season as well as Garko's first recruiting class, which looks to make a mark this season.
