Seniors Brett Manning and Julie Magud Named Pacific's Big West Scholar Athletes of the Year

Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific Athletic Department proudly announces seniors Brett Manning (Boulder, Colo.) and Julie Magud (Stockton, Calif.) as the Tigers' 2007-08 Big West Scholar Athletes of the Year.

Manning and Magud were selected from 131 Tigers that qualified as Big West Scholar-Athletes this season by maintaining a cumulative 3.0 GPA.

From the candidate pool, the Big West Scholar Athlete of the Year is selected by a panel that considers leadership qualities, athletic performance and academic performance.

A two-time member of the All-Big West Academic Team, Manning is an active contributor to the Pacific community on the diamond, in the classroom and as a member of the Pacific student Athletic Council (PSAC). Manning is Pacific's Big West Representative for PSAC. During his first three seasons with the Tigers, Brett has pitched and played the field for the Tigers. Brett has twice earned the Big West Player of the Week.

Magud wrapped up her athletic career for the Tigers during the fall as she became Pacific Women's Volleyball's career digs leader with 1,903 digs in her four-year career. A three-time member of the All-Big West Academic Team, Magud has also served as an active member of PSAC, representing the women's volleyball team. Julie closed out her career by earning her second consecutive All-Big West honorable mention honor as she led the Tigers with 503 digs this season.
