Pacific Defeated At No. 3 Gonzaga

Spokane, Wash. - The Pacific men's basketball team fell on the road at No. 3 Gonzaga by a count of 91-60 on Saturday, Jan. 24. The Tigers dropped to 10-11, 2-7 in WCC action, while Gonzaga improved to 20-1 and 9-0 in WCC play.

A three-pointer by Dulani Robinson gave the Tigers a 3-2 lead in the early going, but a 10-0 run by the Bulldogs started by a three from Kevin Pangos gave Gonzaga a 12-3 lead with 12:09 to play in the half. Another three-pointer by Robinson cut the lead back to 17-8 at 14:09, before the Bulldogs used another 9-2 run to take a 26-10 lead at the 11:50 mark. Two straight layups by Eric Thompson cut the lead back to 26-14, but a pair of Gonzaga three-pointers sparked a 10-4 stretch to make it an 18 point lead (36-18) with 7:33 remaining. The Bulldogs pushed the lead to 20, but the Tigers scored four of the last six points of the half to make it a 45-27 Gonzaga lead at the break.

In the opening five minutes of the second half, the Tiger started 0-4 from the field and had three turnovers as the Bulldogs used a 16-1 run to open up a 33 point lead (61-28). The first three-pointer of the year from Ilias Theodorou broke the stretch, but Gonzaga held at least a 29 point lead the rest of the way. With the Tigers trailing by 36, Aaron Hendricks hit a three-pointer and Robinson hit a pair of free throws to finish the game scoring the final five points.

Thompson and T.J. Wallace each had 12 points to lead the Tigers, while Robinson added 11 points. Theodorou had career highs with seven points and three rebounds. The Tigers were out-rebounded 34-33, but held a 15-8 edge in offensive rebounds. For the game, The Tigers shot 33.3% from the field (18-54), while the Bulldogs were at 60.0% (33-55).
