Pena’s best event for the Tigers’ came as an Individual during the Sacramento State Invitational finishing tied for 26th with rounds of 74-70-74. Daniel played in 4 of 11 events for Pacific, all of which were played in the Spring of 2019.
One of four players on the team to play in all 10 tournaments of the season. Posted a stroke average of 74.75. Fired 65 birdies and a team-leading five eagles. Finished tied for eighth at the GCU Invitational for his best leaderboard finish of the year. Shot 69-72-71 in the tournament for a three-round score of one-under-par 212. Had his best finish to par at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational when he finished three-under par thanks in part to a second-round score of 67. Recorded 10 scores on the season at or below par. Had three rounds in the 60's, the first came at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational with a 67, the second was at the GCU Invitational with a first-round 69 and his third came in the second-round of the Geiberger Invitational when he shot a 68.
In Daniel's first year he appeared in three tournaments and maintained a stroke average of 73. He competed as an individual at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational where he logged his lowest round of the season shooting par.
Peña attended Johansen High School in Modesto, California before coming to Pacific. While there, he was named Modesto Metro Conference MVP in 2014, 2015, and 2016 while leading the Vikings to a conference and sectional championship. Peña broke the all-time scoring record, shooting a 31 three separate times. He won the conference tournament and the master's championship in 2015.
The former president of Johansen's ping pong club, Peña is the son of Bernie and Teanna Peña. His older sister Allyssa played golf at Sacramento State. He is majoring in sports pedagogy at Pacific.
