The 2016 West Coast Conference Player of the Year, Verbeek was also named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association 2015-16 Northwest Region Senior Player of the Year, Most Improved Player (Senior), and Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award recipients. Turned in a 19-2 singles record (all at first) and 15-5 doubles mark. He went 9-0 in West Coast Conference play and a 10-0 mark against conference opponents in singles. Turned in a 1-1 mark against ranked opponents with two unfinished matches. Ranked intermittently throughout the season, peaking at No. 55 in singles and ending the year at No. 113. One of his two losses on the year was to No. 8 Felipe Soares in a match against No. 17 Texas Tech (Jan. 15). Closed his career on a 10-match winning streak. Posted singles wins in eight matches against teams ranked by the ITA. Won 42 of 49 completed sets in singles play. In doubles, went 15-5 overall, 5-1 in WCC play, and 11-5 at first doubles. Went 8-3 with Jose Chamba, spending much of the season ranked, peaking as high as No. 40. Went 4-0 Alex Giannini, with 2-1 with Miguel Diaz and 1-0 with Lance Ngo. Earned WCC Doubles Players of the Week honors with Giannini (Apr. 12), WCC Singles Player of the Week twice (Apr. 5 and Feb. 23) and was named Pacific’s Competitor of the Month for January and April. First Team All West Coast Conference and WCC All-Academic Team selection.
Sem completed his third season 18-4 in doubles competition and 6-14 in singles competition. Verbeek mainly partnered with Marlon Brand, defeating ranked schools such as: No. 42 Pepperdine, No. 21 San Diego, and No. 35 San Diego State.
Sem was 19-15 in singles as a sophomore and 12-12 in doubles, earning All-West Coast Conference Second Team honors. He earned West Coast Conference Singles Player of the Week honors on Tuesday, April 8. He won both of his No. 1 singles matches the previous week – including a three set win over Joakim Norstrom – to help pick up an important 5-2 road win at WCC Bay Area rival Saint Mary's. He started out 9-3 in singles on the year, playing mostly at No. 1. He picked up 16 wins in doubles, including six straight wins at No. 2 singles with partner Denis Stolyarov.
Sem was named Big West Conference Freshman of the Year after a stellar first season for the Tigers ... He was also named All-Big West First Team and earned All-Big West First Team honors at doubles with his partner Alex Golding ... Sem finished the season 18-12 in singles competition, playing from No. 1 to No. 4 at various times in the spring ... He was also 18-12 in doubles competition, going 11-6 at No. 1 doubles for the Tigers ... Verbeek twice earned Big West Conference Player of the Week honors, on Jan. 30 and Feb. 13.
