SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The University of the Pacific men's tennis team continued their play at the San Diego State University Invite on Saturday.
In Case You Missed It:
- Akram El Sallaly defeated his opponent K. Shin in two straight sets, with the first going into a tiebreak. El Sallaly battled in set one, pulling out a 7-6 (6) tie break victory. He cruised his way to victory in set two 6-2 to advance to the consolation final.
- Tadiwa Chinamo fell in two sets to his opponent from Grand Canyon University, 7-6, 6-3 to play for third place on Sunday.
- In doubles, Johnathan Lieu and John Horoz Garner fought in their doubles match against Morales and Erro of Stanford University, falling 6-4.
- Chinamo and El Sallaly advanced to the consolation final defeating Koevermans and Rostami of West Coast Conference Opponent University of San Diego in round one of Saturday's contest 6-2. They played a second match to bring home the consolation final title, ousting Gonzalez and De La Torre of SDSU 6-3.
El Sallaly and Chinamo compete in the final round of singles for the consolation final and third place, respectively. Matches set to begin 10:00 a.m. PST.
