Pacific heading to Oregon Duck Invite

Pacific heading to Oregon Duck Invite

Pacific men's tennis closes out the 2018 fall season this weekend with a road trip to Eugene, Oregon for the Oregon Duck Invitational. Pacific will take on players from Oregon, Boise State, Portland State, and fellow WCC program, Portland.

Men's tennis head coach Ryan Redondo will travel freshman Philip Hjorth, junior Ross Watson and junior Nathan Hampton to the tournament. Hjorth and Watson will be competing for the first time since the ITA Northwest Regionals at the beginning of October and Hampton are in action for the first time since the UC Davis Aggie Invite in September.

Last time out:

Philip Hjorth:

Hjorth made a run to the ITA Regional Championships quarterfinals before falling to Oregon's Emmanuel Coste 6-4, 6-1. Potentially, Hjorth and Coste could face off again this weekend. To reach the quarterfinals, he defeated Cal's Jack Molloy, Fresno State's Angus Bradshaw, Washington's Ewen Lumsden and Eastern Washington's Mikayel Khachatryan.

Ross Watson:

Like Hjorth, Watson also last competed at the ITA Regional Championships before falling in the third round to a competitor from Portland. To get there, he took a three-set victory over Charles Roberts from Oregon in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.

Nathan Hampton:

At UC Davis, Hampton picked up a win over Arjun Mariyappa 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 to reach the round of 16, but fell in a two-set match. On day two of the Invitational, he fell to Bernardo Morales of Sacramento State in three sets and dropped another match to Issa Yoshida 6-1, 1-6, 10-1.

In doubles, Hampton was paired up with Levent Sever. The two fell to a duo from Sacramento State, 8-2.
