Coming off of a loss in the season opener on Saturday, the Tigers play host to the California Golden Bears on Tuesday at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center at noon. Pacific's first win of the year could come in upset fashion; the Golden Bears received votes in the first Intercollegiate Tennis Association Poll of 2019. The Tigers last faced Cal in January of 2015 in Berkeley. Pacific is coming off of a 4-2 loss in the season opener at UC Davis. The Tigers picked up wins at No. 2 singles from freshman Philip Hjorth, who won his first collegiate duel match and from junior Tadiwa Chinamo at No. 4 singles.

Cal opens its season on Tuesday against the Tigers and is coming off of a 12-10 season that resulted in a run to the second round of the NCAA Tournament where Cal fell to Texas in a 4-0 loss. Cal also sent players to the NCAA Individual Tournament. This season's roster has no seniors on it, but return nine players with Division I experience with three juniors and six sophomores.
The Tigers will face one of the nation's 100-best singles players in sophomore Paul Barretto who was ranked No. 98 to close out the fall season. On the doubles side, the Tigers will have to navigate through tough matches with two of the top-20 duos in the nation. Sophomore Jacob Brumm and freshman Yuta Kikuchi closed out the fall as the 14th duo in the nation while Barretto and sophomore Can Kaya are 18th in the nation. Both teams entered the fall unranked.
