Pacific drops tight match at Boise State

Pacific men's tennis dropped a heartbreaker today in Boise, 4-3 against Boise State men's tennis.

The Tigers dropped the doubles point and went down 2-1 after the first two matches in singles, but fought back to tie the match at 3-3 with wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles to force a decisive match on court two. In the No. 2 match, freshman Philip Hjorth and Boise State's Luka Soskic forced tiebreakers in both sets of the match, but it was Soskic who came out on top 7-6, (7-1) 7-6 (7-4) to hold off the Tigers in the match. A win for Pacific would've snapped a two-match losing streak as well as build momentum ahead of the start of West Coast Conference play on Friday at BYU on Friday.

Junior Ross Watson won Pacific's first match of the day, 6-3, 6-1 to tie the match at 1-1. Watson is 6-4 on the year in singles. Junior Akram El Sallaly cut Boise State's lead down to 3-2 with a win at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4). El Sallaly's win moved him to 6-3 on the season. Junior Tadiwa Chinamo won a big match at No. 3 singles over Simon Arca Costas, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.

Pacific turns its attention to its West Coast Conference opener on Friday at #22 BYU.
