Edgardo Cartagena arrives at Pacific after a distinguished career at Colegio Católico Notre Dame in Caguas, Puerto Rico. In 2011, he led his team to a 15th place finish at the Boys' Youth World Championships. Also, Cartagena was named to the 16-Open All-Tournament team at the 2011 USA Volleyball Boys' Junior National Championships. He was named MVP at his hometown invitational tournament and was a Puerto Rico High School Alliance Association All-Star Player in 2011 and 2012. Cartagena was also a member of his school's basketball team since the eighth grade. At his high school he was a member of the Community Service Club and Vice President of the Art Club.
Edgardo is the son of Edgardo and Oro, he has two siblings Viviana and Patricia. Both his parents were members of the Puerto Rican Volleyball League. While at Pacific, he plans to study Business and hopes to work in the Arts and Entertainment industry. When Edgardo is not on the court he enjoys drawing, painting, listening to music, fishing and eating.
