Pacific set for annual Tiger Turkey Tipoff

Pacific women's basketball (1-1) hosts its annual tournament, the Tiger Turkey Tipoff, this weekend on Friday and Saturday. Pacific welcomes North Texas, North Dakota State and Wyoming to the Spanos Center for the event.

Tigers test #23 Cal...

Pacific fell on the road to nationally-ranked Cal on Sunday, but led the Golden Bears at halftime and lost by the second-lowest margin of the season for the Bears. Only Houston faired better when they fell by one point. Valerie Higgins led the way with 17 points.  

Hot start...

Sophomore guard Valerie Higgins has scored in double-figures in back-to-back games to start her career. (13 against UC Davis, 17 against Cal) She's also gone a perfect 11-11 from the line to start the season. She recorded Pacific's only double-double so far against UC Davis.

Drop Dimes....

Senior guard Ameela Li recorded eight assists against California. She was the first Tiger to reach that mark since GeAnna Luaulu-Summers had nine against Saint Mary's on 1/20/18. As a team, Pacific had 22 assists in the game, the most since the Tigers had 28 against Saint Mary's on 1/20/18.

Don't foul 'em....

Pacific is third in the nation in free throw percentage. The team is shooting .862 from the line (25-29).

Player of the Week...

Ameela Li scooped up WCC Player of the Week honors for her role in the season-opening victory. The senior guard had 27 points,  four rebounds, seven assists and four steals in the contest.

Postseason Accolades...

Last year, GeeAnna Luaulu-Summers was named the All-WCC First Team and Brooklyn McDavid and Ameela Li earned ALL-WCC Honorable Mention honors. Additionally, McDavid earned the Tigers first WCC All-Freshman Team selection since the 2014-15 season. Li and McDavid both return this year.
