STOCKTON, Calif. - The America East announced their preseason polls results Wednesday as the Pacific Tigers were picked to finish in second place in the West Division. The Tigers finished with six points in the poll, just trailing Stanford with nine points.
Pacific made an American East semifinal appearance last year before falling, 2-3, to the eventual champion Cardinal. The Orange and Black return 10 starters to their roster including NFHCA All-American and reigning Conference Player of the Year Kriekie van Wyk. Van Wyk led the charge for the Tigers last year with 19 goals, 45 points, and seven assists.
Albany was picked to win the East Division with three first place votes and 15 points.
The 2018 season begins this Saturday, Aug. 11 as Pacific opens up play with an exhibition match against UC Davis. The Tigers host the Aggies at Pacific Field Hockey Turf at 6:00 PM.
The 64-game divisional schedule begins Friday, Sept. 28. The eight-team America East Championship will feature the four West Division teams and the top four teams from the East Division and will be held Nov. 1-4 at Stanford University.
