MORAGA, Calif. - The Pacific women's soccer team wrapped up regular season action on Saturday with a 1-0 loss to Saint Mary's. Regan Heslop made three saves while the Tigers riffled off 16 shots on the day, with Alex Hussar, Julia Beck and Sigrid Aas leading the way with three each.
The loss brings the Tigers to 5-12-3 overall, 3-6 in West Coast Conference play while the win sends the Gaels to 7-11-1 this season, 3-5-1 in WCC action.
"I am very proud of the girls and everything they have accomplished this season," said head coach Kerri Scroope. "The seniors will be missed and they have left this program better than they found it. We have had a lot milestones this season and left a great foundation for the future!"
Both defensive units were stout in the first half of play as neither teams found the back of the net. Goalie Regan Heslop accrued two saves in the first 45 minutes of action and the Orange and Black took six shots. Bianca Lopez fired off one in the 12th minute that went just wide of the post and Sigrid Aas followed with another just a minute later that required a save by 'keeper Maleah Milner.
The hosts broke through with the lead in the 56th as Jasmine Edwards converted a penalty kick that went to the bottom left corner of the goal for the score. Pacific battled back looking for the equalizer, and in the 60th Julia Beck received the ball and sent a bullet on target, but her shot just hit off the crossbar. The Tigers would take six more shots in the contest looking for that key goal, but the Gael defense sealed the shutout victory.
