Tigers Fall to Fullerton In Titan Classic Finale

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Pacific softball wrapped up their final game at the Titan Classic on Sunday with a 8-0 loss to hosts Cal State Fullerton.

The Titans were buoyed by a four-run rally in the second and two additional runs in the fifth to pull away from the Tigers for the victory. Pacific drops to 2-3 on the season following the weekend while Fullerton improves 4-1 on the year.

Pacific vs. Cal State Fullerton - In Case You Missed It:

  • Pacific found themeselves trailing from behind early on as Fullerton jumped out to a 5-0 lead following a sac fly in the first and grand slam in the second inning.
  • The Tigers would get their bats going in the top of the fourth as a Bradi Kooyman walk and Madison Kahwaty single put runners in scoring position with two outs. Another single by Carly Lucchetti loaded the bases for UOP but the Kahwaty would get caught in a jam and be put out at second base to end the inning.
  • Hailey Reed made her second start of the weekend for the Tigers but freshman Myka Sutherlin would come in relief for the junior utility following 2.0 innings of play. The Topeka, Kansas native struck out one batter, her 19th strikeout of the tournament, but would give up three hits and three earned runs to end her day in the circle.
  • Sutherlin finished out the day for the Orange and Black pitching 3.0 innings and recording a pair of strikeouts.

  • Reed totaled 19 strikeouts at the Titan Classic, the first Pacific pitcher to do so in an opening weekend since Tiger alumn Dani Bonnet did it during the 2015 season.

  • Pacific is back on the road next week and preps for it's second tournament of the season at the Stanford Demarini Invitational (Feb. 14th-16th).
  • The Tigers will be taking on hosts Stanford (4-1), Portland State (2-2), Colorado State (3-1), and Iowa State (1-4) during this three-day tournament.
  • All games will be held at Boyd & Jill Smith Stadium and games will be streamed on the Pac12 Network. Live stats will also be provided as well.
