SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference announced senior pitcher Kenya Lindstrom as the WCC Player of the Week Monday morning.
Lindstrom earns the honor, along with Saint Mary's position player Bailey Lotz, following a shutout victory in the Tigers' season-opener against Buffalo last Friday at the Cal State Fullerton Titan Classic.
The Denver, Colorado native delivered 6.0 scoreless innings striking out a pair of batters to help Pacific gain it's first win of the 2019 season by a final score of 11-0.
Lindstrom went 3.0 perfect innings versus the Bulls to start out the game before surrendering one a walk in the bottom of the fourth. The senior would also carry a no-hitter for the Tigers through 5 and 2/3 as a Buffalo batter broke her streak on the final out of the inning.
This is the eighth complete game and just the second shutout in Lindstrom's career. Her first shutout came off a 6-0 victory against Stanford in Palo Alto last April.
The Tigers (2-3) head back on the road this upcoming weekend as they compete in Stanford's Demarini Classic (Feb. 14th-17th). The Orange and Black will face off against hosts Stanford, Portland State, Colorado State, and Iowa State during the three-day tournament.
