Four Tigers Snag All-Conference Awards, Mabrey Earns Freshman of the Year

STOCKTON, Calif. - Four Tigers were named to All-WCC Teams, the West Coast Conference announced on Tuesday.

Freshman of the Year Jessica Mabrey would highlight the Pacific pack taking the first-year honor and All-Second Team accolade followed by an All-First Team honor from junior Hailey Reed and two All-Second Team awards from Madison Hopper and Carly Lucchetti

This marks the second time in program history that UOP has ever earned the Freshman of the Year award, Hailey Reed being the first player to do so sharing Co-Freshman of the Year her first season. 

"We are very happy for our athletes being honored for their accomplishments," Head Coach Brian Kolze stated. "It is to their credit that they were recognized by the other coaches in the WCC. Congratulation's to all of them."

All-WCC Freshman of the Year | All-WCC Second Team: Jessica Mabrey (Freshman | UTL | Scottsdale, Ariz.)

Mabrey quickly made an impact in her first year with the Orange and Black. The Scottsdale, Ariz. native started all 15 games in conference for UOP sustaining a .333 batting clip with 13 hits, two home runs, seven RBI's, and a team-best .422 on base percentage. Mabrey would also lead the Tigers in slugging percentage with .513. She would tally a hit in five out of her last six games to end the season strong including a season-best three hit performance in Pacific's 4-3 win at home over LMU. All of Mabrey's hitting categories (hits, doubles, triples, home runs, RBI's) would rank in the top-two or better on the team.

All-WCC First Team: Hailey Reed (Junior | UTL | Topeka, Kans.)

Reed's third straight conference honor, the Topeka, Kansas product served as a steady force in the circle for Pacific pitching game. Reed would make seven starts and six appearances in WCC play pitching four complete games and striking out 22 batters. At the plate, Reed led the team with a .421 batting average recording 16 hits and nine runs scored. The junior would reach base safely in 12 out of 15 games in conference holding an on-base percentage of .488.

All-WCC Second Team: Madison Hopper (RS Sophomore | INF | Salem, Oreg.)

Redshirt sophomore Madison Hopper quickly excelled during the second half of the season for the Tigers. Earning her first-ever All-Conference accolade Hopper hit .349 in conference, held a .558 slugging percentage, and registered a team-best nine RBI's off 15 hits. The Oregon native would post four multi-hit games in WCC play including a two-hit, two double, two-RBI day against LMU (May 4th). Hopper also held an eight-game hitting streak during conference competition and would wrap up the year with a hit in nine out of UOP's last 11 games. 

All-WCC Second Team: Carly Lucchetti (Freshman | OF | Linden, Calif.)

In the leadoff spot for the Tigers throughout the majority of the season, freshman outfielder Carly Lucchetti flourished in her role for Head Coach Brian Kolze and his staff. Lucchetti put up consistent numbers in the No. 1 hole leading the team in hits (17) and hitting .362. An All-WCC Player of the Week recipient this year, the Linden, Calif. native broke out for the Tigers six hits, one triple, and five RBI's in UOP's home series against Saint Mary's. Lucchetti would also record six multi-hit performances in conference.
