STOCKTON, Calif. - The Tigers signed three new recruits in preparation for the 2018-2019 season: Hannah Ketcherside, Jacquie Tan, and Georgia Townsend.
"We are extremely excited about the additions of Hannah, Jacquie, and Georgia to our program this fall," Head Coach Mike Erwin stated. "All three have demonstrated leadership, strong academics, and skill on the tennis court that make them a great fit for us. We're looking for them to hit the ground running and get off to a great start in their careers at Pacific."
A local product from St. Mary's High School of Stockton, Hannah Ketcherside was a four-year varsity athlete and two year captain with the Rams. Ketcherside played three years in the No. 1 singles spot and helped lead her team to a perfect 10-0 finish and Tri-City Athletic League (TCAL) Championship in 2017.
Daughter of St. Mary's alum Cindy Ketcherside, Hannah is a TCAL Doubles League Champion (2015) as well as a two-time TCAL MVP (2015, 2017).
Ketcherside has also been heavily involved with the community, organizing a sock drive which has donated over 55,000 pairs of socks to the St. Mary's Dining Room. She is also a recipient of the Diane Kern Sportsmanship Award (2016).
Jacquie Tan is a four-year varsity player from Franklin High School in Elk Grove, Calif. The Delta League (DL) Singles champion during her freshman, junior, and senior year, Tan won the Delta League MVP twice during her freshman and sophomore year and was the first athlete in Franklin program history to win the Individual Section Championships for tennis.
Tan went undefeated in league play since her freshman year with the Wildcats and did not drop a single set. The Elk Grove native also went on to win the Division 1 San Joaquin Section title for Franklin. Tan is a three-time All-City High School Sports nominee along with an All-City Team honoree during her senior year.
Daughter of Alan Tan, who played college basketball and volleyball, and Dong Fu, a semi-professional runner, both of Tan's parents competed in China. Tan was also ASB commissioner for Franklin from 2017-2018.
The Tigers added Georgia Townsend from Brisbane, Austrailia. A Perennial All-State Selection, Townsend offers alot of experience to the plate for the Orange and Black being a winner and a finalist for multiple open and junior tournament in Austrailia and a QLD WTA Future Stars Tournament finalist.
Townsend is ranked 18th for her age in the women's tennis individual rankings in Austrailia and fifth in the state of Queensland. She is also a three-time Austrailian National Team champion, a three-time Brisbane Regional champion, and Queensland State champion for gymnastics.
Tennis runs in the family for Georgia as both her brothers Declan and Padraic play competitively and have national rankings in Austrailia.
The Tigers pick up the new season with the Battle of the Bay Classic in San Francisco on September 22nd.
