STOCKTON, Calif. – The University of the Pacific women's tennis team will open its 2018 fall competition at the Battle in the Bay Classic Friday at the California Tennis Club in San Francisco.
The Battle in the Bay Classic is scheduled for September 21-23. The Tigers will be represented by four student-athletes in sophomore Dohee Lee, senior Anneroos Nederstigt, and freshmen Georgia Townsend and Jacquie Tan.
Pacific will be joined by players from the University of Southern California (USC), Georgia, Texas Christian University (TCU), California (Cal), Michigan, Texas Tech, Stanford, Texas, Wake Forest, fellow West Coast Conference Opponents University of San Francisco and University of San Diego, San Diego State University, University of California-Santa Barbara, Fresno State, Cal Poly, and Hawaii.
The main draw for women's singles will start on Friday, September 21 and will be made up of 16 players, while doubles will be a draw of eight teams.
Nederstigt enters the tournament as the reigning doubles' champion with former partner, Maayan Sela. Nederstigt and Sela defeated USF duo Amber Del Rosario and Alisha Sharma in a 6-0 victory.
Lee will team up with Tan for doubles. Last year, Lee went 4-12 in doubles action but competed best at the No. 2 spot going 3-3. In singles, Lee finished 8-9 overall and went 7-5 in the No. 2 singles spot.
Following the Battle in the Bay Classic, Pacific will head to the Cal Invitational at the University of California in Berkeley.
