After a win to open the West Coast Conference schedule on Saturday, the Pacific Women's Tennis took on San Francisco in a match rescheduled from Friday and lost, 4-3.
San Francisco took the doubles point to start the day, but the Tigers rallied back from an early 1-0 deficit to win three matches in singles and eventually force a decisive match yet again at No. 5 singles, where it was, unfortunately, Pacific's freshman Maya Lopez that came up short in the loss.
San Francisco won matches at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, but not before juniors Karina Vyrlan and Anna Ramos Vinolas leveled things up at 1-1 in doubles with a win to improve to 6-0 on the season at No. 3 doubles.
In singles, the two teams traded points, first with a win for San Francisco at No. 1 singles. At No. 2 singles, sophomore Dohee Lee defeated Emily Maxfield 6-3, 6-3 to remain undefeated on court two at 6-0. Her win cut USF's lead down to 2-1. A win on court three made it a 3-1 lead for San Francisco, but Pacific knotted the match up with first with a win for Vyrlan on court four, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4. Vinolas then won her match on court six, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 to tie the match at 3-3.
On court five, Lopez battled with Rita Colyer, but lost the decisive match 7-6, 6-4 to allow San Francisco to take the win.
The Tigers are back in action on Friday when the team returns home for a weekend series with Pepperdine on Friday and Loyola Marymount on Saturday. Both matches are set to start at noon at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center.
