LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Pacific women's track and field team competed in its first official meet of the season at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex in Lychburg, Virginia.
The meet spanned over two days and four pacific runners competed.
On Friday evening, Jasmine Gonzales, Emma Winkler, and Saira Purhar opened 2019 competition with two top-10 and one top-15 performance in the 5,000 meter run. Gonzales led the way, placing fourth with a time of 18:11.67. Emma Winkler followed closely in seventh with a time of 18:17.18. Purhur clocked a time of 19:01.94.
Naomi Nunis opened Saturday's events for the Tigers, recording an 8.24 finish in the 60 meter dash preliminaries.
The same three distance runners performed in the 3000 meter run on Saturday. Gonzales finished 11th in the field of 26 with a 10:32.39 finish. That time currently ranks fourth in Pacific's outdoor track and field record books. Winkler was 14th (10:41.54) and Purhur was 19th (11:03.22).
Next up for the Tigers will be the Santa Clara Invitational on Feb. 23, 2019.
