DAVIS, Calif. – The Pacific women's track and field team registered eight personal-best marks and broke the program record in the javelin on Saturday at the Woody Wilson meet in Davis, Calif.
Megan Rabatan finished seventh overall in the long jump, recording a personal-best mark of 4.34 meters (14-3) on her third leap. Then in the triple jump, Kailey Espinoza recorded 9.63 meters for a new personal-best distance of 31 feet, 7.25 inches.
Celine Chandler and Alexia Amo were stellar in the javelin. Chandler surpassed the program record on her first attempt with a 30.44 meter (99-10) toss. Amo demolished her previous career mark by nearly five feet with a throw of 26.38 meters (86-6).
Amo, along with teammate Lilia Guerrero, also competed in the discus and shot put. In the discus, Guerrero's longest toss was 26.35 meters (86-5), while Amo recorded a distance of 21.16 meters (69-5). Amo was the Tigers' top performer in the shot put, totaling 9.56 meters (31-4.5), while Guerrero had a mark of 7.88 meters (25-10.25)
Pacific continues to shine in the 1500 meter run with all three runners — Emma Winkler, Jasmine Gonzales, and Skylar Duignan reaching new personal bests in the event. Winkler and Gonzales finished first and second, respectively, in their heat, while Duignan finished 10th in the same heat. Winkler fell just short of breaking the program record with a time of 4:47.98. Gonzales clocked in at 4:48.48, while Duignan recorded a time of 5:10.29.
Duignan also recorded a new personal best in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:38.62. Finishing ahead of the sophomore and second in her heat was Emily Wylie with a time of 2:29.79.
Speedster Naomi Nunis competed in three events on the day — 100 meter dash (12.52s), 200 meter dash (26.71s), and the 4x100 meter relay (54.54). Mary Alzammar, Espinoza, and Wylie joined Nunis in the relay.
In addition to the 4x100 meter relay, Alzammar also competed in the 100 meter dash, finishing with a time of 14.90.
Pacific will return to action on April 18-19, when it attends the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif.
