Pye Powers Water Polo Past Redlands, 13-7

Stockton, Calif. - Brydie Pye scored four goals as the Pacific women's water polo team won for the sixth time in seven games with a 13-7 victory over Redlands Saturday afternoon at Chris Kjeldsen Pool.

Taylor Adair and Rebecca Wright each added a pair of goals while Noelle Mann, Elise Martin, Malena Prlain, and Megan Torre also scored.

Meghan Nee recorded nine saves in net, while Redlands' Julie Lupfer stopped 10 Pacific shots.

Pacific improves to 11-11 on the season, while Redlands falls to 8-12.

Adair opened the scoring, ripping a shot to the upper right corner from just outside the five-meter. Pye added a skip shot for a 2-0 lead at the 5:41 mark. Elise Martin slipped one by the keeper for a 3-0 lead.

After Tricia Bannister finished a five-meter penalty to get Redlands on the board, Noelle Mann skipped in a shot from a sharp angle for a 4-1 advantage.

On Pacific's first possession of the second quarter, Pye floated a long lob shot over Lupfer for a 5-1 lead.

Redlands' Annie Kinney snuck a long shot inside the post to cut the gap to three, before Pye added a skip shot goal from five meters out for a 6-2 margin.

Jaci Cochrane and Deandra Van Houten each tallied long-range shots for Redlands, trimming Pacific's lead to 6-4 before Megan Torre finished. The Tigers took a 7-4 lead into halftime.

Cochrane tallied again to open the third, but Adair answered with a goal from six meters out. Van Houton snuck one past to cut Pacific's lead to 8-6 with 4:38 to go in the third. Wright tucked a shot inside the post for a 9-6 lead. Kinnie scored in transition off a long outlet from Lupfer with 47 seconds left in the quarter.

Elise Martin opened the fourth quarter with a goal to restore a three-goal cushion. Pye skipped a shot in from the side, at point blank range as the Tigers led 11-7 with 5:46 to play.

Wright added a goal in transition as the Tigers ran out the clock the rest of the way.

Pacific is back in action on March 28 at Loyola Marymount and March 29 at Cal Baptist.
